Abstract

Textbooks are important tools for teachers today, just as they have been for teachers of past decades. Since books assist students in literacy and learning, it is of utmost importance that they are properly chosen according to the audience that will be worked on and the way in which they approach the contents. In addition, the terms and language contained in textbooks are not always specific and specific, such as the nomenclatures and name of structures in the case of the science that is the focus of the work. Thus, in order to contribute to the teaching of science and biology, an analysis of the didactic book Biology Today - The living beings of the 2nd year of high school was carried out. The focus of the analysis was the circulatory system, verifying how content is treated in books, language, scientific terms present. Finally, using a stage of problematizing critical historical pedagogy, it was investigated how it is published in textbooks. As a result of the analysis, five suggestions for improvements in the content can be highlighted, two conceptual, two in images present in the chapter and one in the activities related to the content. No mention or suggestion of moments of problematization of Critical Historical pedagogy was identified, so a frame was created with examples of problematization in order to contribute to research and education.
