The aim of this work is to present a review about the book "Discourse and Discourse Analysis" by Dominique Maingueneau, since this is a significant contribution to discursive studies, however it is essential to reflect if it is an introductory text as this one proposes. Published in 2014, translated in 2015, this work offers a comprehensive and critical analysis of the multiple conceptions, concepts and directions of Discourse Analysis (DA). It includes retakes and discussions about the multiple conceptions, concepts and paths of the discipline that gives its name to the book. It is organized into three parts, subdivided into 15 chapters that address discursive issues that are still current and bring key notions studied in the area of language. Throughout the pages of this book, Maingueneau revisits and recontextualizes fundamental ideas, challenging established paradigms. In this review, we will explore the structure and content, highlighting its strengths and reaching a conclusion about its impact on the field of discourse studies.
