Abstract

This research aims to contribute to the appreciation of the work of Student Assistants at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Paraná (IFPR). The objective of the research is to present and analyze the conception of the duties of the Student Assistant position as a way of valuing its significant role in the training of IFPR students, through the vision of these employees and the general directors, directors of teaching, research and extension of the IFPR campuses. The work occurred through analysis of Student Assistants' responses, document analyzes (laws, regulations, manuals, etc.) and bibliographic references on the topic. We sought to relate the tasks developed, the practice and professional knowledge of Student Assistants on the IFPR campuses, through data collection, with the application of a semi-open questionnaire to those involved in the research. The work is justified by the researchers' coexistence with colleagues in the position in question, by the existence of few studies on the topic and by the great relevance of this position in the psychopedagogical-social organization of educational institutions. The content analysis methodology was used, with qualitative analyzes to understand the educational space that Student Assistants occupy at IFPR and their role in the transformation of human beings. Based on the idea that everyone at school is an educator, this article highlights the importance of this employee and the conflicts that involve his duties.
