Abstract

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is an approach aimed at promoting empathetic and collaborative relationships, both personal and professional. Based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg, NVC is a conscious practice that encourages reflection on human needs and empathy with others. According to Rosenberg, NVC involves four steps: observation, identification of feelings, identification of needs, and making clear and empathetic requests. These steps aim to promote more authentic and conscious communication, allowing for mutual understanding and conflict resolution, seeking to eliminate alienating communication, where there is no genuine and meaningful connection between individuals. In the school context, NVC can be a valuable tool for teachers, assisting in communication with students and in resolving conflicts effectively. It is important for educators to be trained and constantly seek to improve their communication skills to promote a healthier and more productive school environment. Additionally, teacher training should go beyond traditional education, also including teaching methods and educational practices that incorporate the principles of NVC. This contributes to a more effective education, where the emotional well-being of students is taken into consideration, resulting in a pleasant and conducive learning environment.
